Seven-time Wimbledon winner Novak Djokovic is slated to take on World No.1 Jannik Sinner in an enticing semifinal clash at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Friday.

The 24-time Grand Slam winner, Djokovic, has the opportunity to level Swiss legend Roger Federer’s record tally of eight crowns at SW19 if he can dig out just two more wins. However, he would have to really be on song to get the better of top-seeded Sinner, who is yet to drop a set in the current season of the grass court Major in the English Capital City.

Sinner, who looked troubled by an elbow injury, brushed off any concerns with his win over Ben Shelton in the quarterfinal of the event. Djokovic, however, endured a nasty fall during the final knockings of his encounter against Flavio Cobolli and would look to be back to full fitness ahead of his ordeal against the Italian star.

The Serbian icon got his 2025 Wimbledon campaign underway with a win over Frenchman Alexandre Muller in four sets before ousting Brit Dan Evans in straight sets in the second round. Fellow Serb Miomir Kecmanovic fell to his compatriot in the third round, before Djokovic sunk Australian Alex de Minaur in the Round of 16. Djokovic’s quarterfinal win over Cobolli set him up for the high-stakes semifinal clash against Sinner.

Sinner routed compatriot Luca Nardi in straight sets to begin his campaign on grass, before another dominant showing against Aleksandar Vukic. Sinner continued his straight-sets streak against Pedro Martinez in the third round, before coasting past Bulgaria Grigor Dimitrev in the Ro16 clash. The top ranked player, Sinner, continued his perfect record at the ongoing edition of Wimbledon with another triumph against American Shelton in the quarters to set up a semifinal spectacle against Djokovic.

“Me and Novak, we know each other better because we played quite a lot,” Sinner said ahead of the game against the Serbian legend with a berth in the championship clash up for grabs.

“So we understand what’s working and what’s not,” he added.

Djokovic, who eyes his record 25th Grand Slam title, acknowledged that Sinner and two-time defending Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz are the men to beat in the current era and will have to go through at least one, if not both, in order to complete his quest.

“Sinner and Alcaraz are the leaders of tennis today,” Djokovic said after his semifinal win over Cobolli.

“I couldn’t ask for a bigger challenge, for sure. I look forward to it,” the Serbia said welcoming the task at hand.
