However, no female candidate was able to achieve the 100 percentile in the session 1 exam. The female topper in JEE Mains 2026 session 1 is Ashi Grewal from Haryana who scored 99.996 percentile.
A perfect 100 percentile practically guarantees a top All India Rank (AIR) and positions candidates favourably for admissions into premier engineering institutes such as National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and Government Funded Technical Institutions (GFTIs).
It also secures eligibility for JEE Advanced — the next level of competitive examination for entry into Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
The Session 1 examination was conducted on January 21, 22, 23, 24, 28 and 29, 2026. Paper 1 took place on January 21, 22, 23, 24 and 28 in two shifts — the morning shift from 9 am to 12 noon and the afternoon shift from 3 pm to 6 pm. Paper 2 was held on January 29 in a single shift from 9 am to 12.30 pm.
Earlier, NTA released the provisional answer key on February 4 and allowed candidates to raise objections till February 6, 2026. After reviewing the challenges, the agency today released the final answer key.
