The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur has started its MBA program for the 2025–27 batch, welcoming a class of 353 students. This year, 14.5% of the students come from some of India’s top technical and management schools, including IITs, NITs, IIITs, IISERs, and IIMs. Among them, 26 students (about 7.57%) graduated from well-known institutes like IIT Guwahati, NIT Tiruchirapalli, NIT Rourkela, and VNIT Nagpur during the 2024–26 period.

The institute shared that this year’s batch has a good balance between different academic backgrounds. About 55.5% of the students have engineering degrees, while 44.5% come from non-engineering fields. These non-engineering students include those with backgrounds in commerce, science, humanities, law, management, medicine, and dentistry. Students have joined from 21 different states and three union territories across India. This mix shows IIM Raipur’s focus on learning from different areas and encouraging decision-making based on diverse perspectives.

On average, students have about 23 months of work experience. They bring professional knowledge from various sectors such as IT, engineering, banking and financial services (BFSI), retail, and healthcare. This work experience is expected to help them learn from each other and better understand real-world problems during classes, case studies, and group projects.

The new academic year began with an orientation program to help students get familiar with the institute’s rules and academic expectations. During orientation, students learned about the placement process, international partnerships, and campus facilities.

Besides academics, the orientation also included sessions on important topics like ethical behaviour, campus rules, and mental health. Students took part in workshops about mental wellness, preventing sexual harassment (POSH), and scholarship options. These sessions show that IIM Raipur is committed not only to education but also to the overall well-being and awareness of its students.
