2025 Discovery Sport updated with new variants, more features

The Land Rover Discovery Sport has received a model year update for 2025, offering updated styling, more features and a rejigged variant line-up. Although the Discovery Sport first went on sale over a decade ago in 2014, Land Rover has regularly refreshed the midsize luxury SUV to keep it relevant and up-to-par with rivals like the BMW X3, Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLC and Volvo XC60.

  1. 2025 Discovery Sport trims renamed to Dynamic S, Landmark and Metropolitan
  2. Standard feature list now includes digital driver’s display, 11.4-inch infotainment screen, and more
  3. Discovery Sport continues with 2.0-litre petrol and diesel mild-hybrid powertrains

All three variants renamed

The Discovery Sport’s Dynamic SE trim – currently sold in India – has now been replaced by Landmark, a moniker that Land Rover previously used for a special edition of the Discovery Sport in 2019. Globally, Land Rover also sells the Discovery Sport in the top-spec Dynamic HSE and entry-level S trim levels, which have now been renamed to Metropolitan and Dynamic S, respectively.

Exterior highlights for the Discovery Sport Landmark trim comprise a mountain range logo on the skid plates and puddle lights inspired by the original 1989 Land Rover Discovery and roof rails. The luxury-oriented Metropolitan trim sports a silver finish for the ‘Discovery’ bonnet lettering, grille and skid plates, as well as 20-inch alloy wheels with an optional gloss-black finish. Lastly, the base Dynamic S trim features sportier design flourishes, with the bonnet lettering, grille, wheel arches, bumpers, and side cladding all finished in gloss black.

Interior features

11.4-inch Pivi Pro curved infotainment touchscreen

Following the 2025 model year update, all Discovery Sport variants include a digital driver’s display, steering-mounted paddle shifters, an 11.4-inch curved Pivi Pro infotainment touchscreen, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.

Over this feature list, the Discovery Sport Landmark trim gets a panoramic glass roof, sliding and reclining second-row seats, device holders for rear occupants and a 360-degree camera, while the Metropolitan trim adds Windsor leather upholstery, 14-way heated and cooled front seats, a 14-speaker 650W Meridian sound System, digital IRVM and cabin air purifier.

For buyers looking to personalise their Discovery Sport for specific use cases, Land Rover has expanded the accessory pack line-up with the 2025 update. In addition to the current ‘Biking Adventures’ and ‘For Dogs’ accessory packs, the Discovery Sport is now available with the ‘Beach Days’ (includes cooler box, sunshades and collapsible load-space organiser), ‘Road Trip’ (includes rearseat device holders, crossbars and roof box) and ‘Snow Days’ (includes ski/snowboard carriers, rubber mats and snow traction system) packs as well.

Land Rover has made no mechanical changes to the updated Discovery Sport, with the luxury SUV continuing to be powered by the same 2.0-litre Ingenium mild-hybrid turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, which make 249hp and 204hp, respectively. Torque output stands at 430Nm for the diesel engine and 365Nm for the petrol unit, and both come mated to a 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox channelling power to all four wheels.

The Discovery Sport is also offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain in overseas markets, which combines a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine and a 15kWh battery for a total output of up to 309hp and 540Nm.

Yet to be officially announced

As it stands, the updated Discovery Sport has yet to go on sale in India, and no firm date has been confirmed either. Land Rover does assemble the Discovery Sport in India, though, so the refreshed model will most likely make it here in a similar capacity. The Discovery Sport is currently priced at Rs 67.9 lakh in India, and we expect the updated version to command a premium.
