A severe road accident in Maharashtra’s Buldhana district early this morning claimed six lives and left 17 others injured. The tragic incident took place on the Shegaon-Khamgaon highway when a high-speed Bolero car first collided with an ST bus and was then hit from behind by a private passenger bus.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred around 5:30 AM. The Bolero, traveling from Shegaon towards Kolhapur, suddenly crashed into an ST bus en route from Pune to Paratwada. The approaching private bus had no time to react and crashed into the wrecked vehicles. The impact was so severe that all three vehicles were badly damaged.
The deceased include Dhaneshwar Maravi (Madhya Pradesh), Krishnakumar Mohan Singh Sarote (20), Shivpal, Shivaji Samadhan Munde (55, SBI Colony, Shegaon), and Mehrunisa Sheikh Habib (45, Dhule Malegaon) from Indrani Travels. Additionally, Ranjit Wankhede, a resident of Murtizapur in Akola district, succumbed to his injuries while being referred to a hospital in Akola.
Among the injured are 10-year-old Sazia Parveen, 81-year-old Sukhdev Bhonde, and 15 others, with seven reported to be in critical condition.
The injured have been admitted to Khamgaon Government Hospital. Police and local authorities have launched rescue operations at the accident site. Reports indicate that the private bus driver remains trapped inside the vehicle, and efforts are ongoing to extricate him. While the exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined, preliminary investigations suggest high speed as a contributing factor. Authorities have initiated a detailed inquiry into the incident.
