IIT Delhi has opened registration for its 6-month Generative AI course, offering hands-on training in LLMs, NLP, and responsible AI through real-world tools and projects.

IIT Delhi launches second batch of Generative AI Certificate Programme to upskill professionals.
The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened registrations for the second batch of its Certificate Programme in Generative AI, designed to cater to the growing demand for skilled professionals in artificial intelligence. Offered via the Continuing Education Programme (CEP), this six-month, immersive online course focuses on core AI domains such as Large Language Models (LLMs), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and ethical AI practices.
As organisations worldwide race to adopt AI, the demand for professionals capable of building scalable and responsible AI systems is rapidly increasing. According to PwC, AI is expected to contribute a staggering USD 15.7 trillion to the global economy by 2030.
Yet, a BCG report reveals that just 26% of companies manage to scale their AI initiatives effectively. In India, EY’s The AIDEA of India report predicts that Generative AI alone could boost the nation’s GDP by USD 1.5 trillion by 2030 — underscoring the importance of nurturing AI talent.
Programme Highlights And Tools
Participants in IIT Delhi’s programme will gain hands-on experience using leading tools and frameworks, including Python, NumPy, TensorFlow, PyTorch, spaCy, and Hugging Face. The curriculum is enriched with real-world projects across sectors like healthcare, finance, education, and autonomous technologies. Capstone projects will challenge learners to:
– Design and refine neural networks
– Implement transformer-based architectures
– Apply advanced NLP techniques across languages
– Optimise LLMs in low-resource settings using PEFT
The course also explores advanced AI techniques such as instruction tuning, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), reinforcement learning with human feedback (RLHF), and modern prompting strategies that boost factual reliability and reasoning skills in models.
Prof. Tanmoy Chakraborty, Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Delhi, commented on the programme’s importance: “We believe Generative AI will be central to the next wave of innovation. This course is structured not just to teach AI concepts but to prepare professionals to build responsible, scalable AI systems that will reshape industries and society alike.”
