Novak Djokovic says he’s been in touch with Virat Kohli for a few years now but hasn’t got the chance to meet the India batting great in person. Kohli was present at the All England Club as he watched Djokovic sail into the quarterfinals of the men’s singles event of Wimbledon 2025.

Kohli is backing Djokovic to win Wimbledon 2025.

“Virat Kohli and I have been texting a little bit for a few years, and we never got the chance to meet in person,” Djokovic said on Sony Sports. “But it was really a privilege and an honor to listen to him speak nicely about me. And I obviously admire all of his career and achievements and everything he has done.”

Djokovic, who holds the record for the most singles titles in Grand Slam history, is eyeing a record-extending 25th title. He brushed aside the challenge of Australian Alex de Minaur, prevailing 1–6, 6–4, 6–4, 6–4 to enter quarters.

The 38-year-old said he tried playing cricket but isn’t very good at it.

“I started to play cricket. I’m not very good at it. Obviously cricket being very big, big sport in Australia and of course India let’s say that I’ll have a task to perfect my cricket skills before I get to India so that I don’t embarrass myself when I’m there,” he quipped.

Djokovic has seven Wimbledon titles and should he triumph this Sunday, it will bring him on level terms with Roger Federer’s record of eight titles at the All England Club.

Federer was among the audience as he witnessed his great rival march into the quarters.

“It’s probably the first time he’s (Federer) watching me and I’ve won the match,” said Djokovic. “The last couple I lost, so good to break the curse. No, it’s great, obviously, great to have Roger, a huge champion and someone that I admired and respected a lot. We shared the stage for so many years, and it’s great to have him back.”
