Every car, SUV under Rs 10 lakh with a sunroof

As it stands, 11 models offer a sunroof under the Rs 10 lakh mark.

Sunroofs have become a near-ubiquitous feature in India’s mass-market models owing to immense demand from buyers. They were mostly seen in the premium end of the price spectrum, but these days, sunroofs are available even in cars and SUVs priced under Rs 10 lakh. Here’s a compilation of every model currently on sale that gets a sunroof within a Rs 10 lakh budget. Do note that the models on this list are all equipped with single-pane sunroofs.

Tata Punch

Adventure S onwards

Price: Rs 7.72 lakh

Every car, SUV under Rs 10 lakh with a sunroof

The Tata Punch is currently the most affordable car in India to offer a sunroof, with the feature being available from its Adventure S trim onwards. This trim level can be had with a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine developing 88hp and 115Nm, mated to either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT gearbox, as well as a CNG-manual powertrain outputting 73.5hp and 103Nm. The latter configuration –priced at Rs 8.67 lakh – also makes the Punch the most affordable CNG car in India to offer a sunroof.

Hyundai i20

Magna onwards (excluding Sportz)

Price: Rs 7.79 lakh

Hyundai’s premium hatchback, the i20, gets a sunroof starting from its one-above-base Magna trim. However, it’s worth noting that only the top-spec Asta trim level – starts at Rs 10 lakh – of the i20 adds voice command functionality for the sunroof. The i20 is powered by a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that makes 83hp and 115Nm, with gearbox options comprising a 5-speed manual and a CVT auto.

Hyundai Exter

S+ onwards

Price: Rs 7.93 lakh

The Exter is the smallest Hyundai SUV on sale in India, and can be had with a sunroof from the S+ trim level onwards. Like with the i20, though, the Exter features voice commands for the sunroof starting from its one-below-top SX(O) Connect trim, priced at Rs 9.67 lakh. The Exter shares its 83hp, 115Nm, 1.2-litre petrol engine with the i20 but additionally offers CNG-powered variants, with the most affordable one to offer a sunroof priced at Rs 8.86 lakh.

Tata Altroz

Pure S onwards

Price: Rs 8.05 lakh

Following the Altroz’s recent facelift, the Tata hatchback has slipped from its former position as the most affordable car in India to offer a sunroof. Now, the Altroz gets a sunroof starting from its Pure S trim level, which can be had with a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine producing 88hp and 115Nm, mated to either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT gearbox. A CNG-manual version of this powertrain, priced at Rs 9.15 lakh, is available in the Altroz Pure S trim as well.

Hyundai Venue

E+ onwards

Price: Rs 8.32 lakh

Hyundai’s popular Venue compact SUV is due a generational update in the coming months, but as it stands, you can have it with a sunroof from the entry-level E+ trim level onward. This Venue trim can solely be had with a 83hp, 114Nm, 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Voice command functionality for the Venue’s sunroof only comes into the picture starting from the SX trim – Rs 11.18 lakh – which ventures outside the stipulated price range of this list.

Kia Sonet

HTE(O) onwards

Price: Rs 8.44 lakh

The Sonet may be identical to the Venue beneath the skin, but its sunroof-equipped HTE(O) trim does command a Rs 12,000 premium over the Hyundai SUV’s equivalent trim level. For the additional cash, though, Sonet buyers get the option of a punchier 116hp, 250Nm, 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Thanks to this powertrain’s Rs 10 lakh price tag, the Sonet is the most affordable diesel car in India to offer a sunroof. For petrol-oriented buyers, the Sonet HTE(O) trim is also available with the same petrol-manual powertrain as that of the Venue.

Tata Nexon

Smart+ S onwards

Price: Rs 9.20 lakh

The venerable Nexon compact SUV comes with a sunroof starting from its Smart+ S trim. This Nexon trim can be had with three powertrains: an 88hp, 170Nm, 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with a 5-speed manual, an 85hp, 260Nm, 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine with a 6-speed manual, and a 73.5hp, 170Nm petrol-CNG setup paired with a 6-speed manual.

Only the petrol powertrain falls within the Rs 10 lakh budget, though, with the others exceeding it by Rs 30,000. Notably, the Nexon is one of the few models here to offer a panoramic sunroof as well, but the feature is available only on the SUV’s top-spec Creative+ and Fearless+ trim levels.

Mahindra XUV 3XO

RevX M(O) onwards

Price: Rs 9.44 lakh

The XUV 3XO’s newly-launched RevX trim line lowers the barrier of entry for a single-pane sunroof, with the feature now available from the RevX M(O) variant, which is Rs 10,000 cheaper than the prior MX2 Pro trim. In the RevX M(O) trim, XUV 3XO buyers get a sole 111hp, 200Nm, 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Much like the Nexon, higher variants of the XUV 3XO get a panoramic sunroof. Interestingly, the RevX A trim – priced at Rs 11.79 lakh – makes the XUV 3XO the most affordable SUV in India to offer a panoramic sunroof, so if you’re considering buying the Mahindra, a slight stretch in the budget can net you a much larger sunroof.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire

ZXI+ only

Price: Rs 9.69 lakh

The Dzire is the only sedan on this list, and offers a sunroof solely in its top-spec ZXI+ trim. In this trim level, the Dzire is available with both 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox options for its 82hp, 112Nm, 1.2-litre 3-cyl petrol engine.

Hyundai i20 N Line

N6 onwards

Price: Rs 10 lakh

The i20’s hotter N Line iteration is the final entry on this list, offering a sunroof from its base N6 trim. However, only the N8 trim of the i20 N Line gets voice commands for the sunroof. Under the hood, the i20 N Line is equipped with a 120hp, 172Nm, 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
