It is the responsibility of parents at home and teachers at school to ensure that the future of this society is not damaged in any way due to the current social situation. A teacher seems to be fulfilling that responsibility even after retirement. There is no word like retirement in her dictionary. Even after her official retirement, Tripti Bakshi, 67, a resident of Tamluk, Purba Mednipur, West Bengal is steadfast in her teaching career.
She was the headmistress of the local Khoshtikari Primary School and retired from there in 2018. Despite retiring nearly seven years ago, she still comes to school every day to teach students without any remuneration. She has taken only 11 days of leave during her entire career.

Although she accepted the farewell reception, believing that teachers do not retire, she promised to continue attracting students even after retirement. True to her word, Tripti Devi has been coming to school regularly every day since the very next day.
“I don’t want to sit at home. Teaching is like an addiction. I like being with students. If my body is healthy, I will come to school regularly like this,” she told News18 Bengali. She reaches school by 10:30 am every day and returns home in the afternoon after taking classes all day.
The school caters to students from kindergarten to fifth grade. The students said that she has not slowed down in teaching even after retirement. Even though the school authorities want to pay her an honorarium for teaching post-retirement, Tripti Devi does not accept any money. The school authorities have accepted this with respect and love. This dedication of Tripti Devi is rare. Retired school teacher Tripti Bakshi is now an inspiration to all the teachers at that school. Her work has inspired other teachers at the school.
