The World Athletics Championships is set to get underway in Tokyo, Japan on Saturday with 19 Indians in the fray representing the tricolour across disciplines.

The nine-day spectacle will host a multitude of events, and the Indian challenge in Japan will be spearheaded by double Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra. India has won medals at the event three times, through legendary long jump athlete Anju Bobby George in 2003 and Neeraj Chopra in 2022 and 2023, and aims to build on their historic tally at the competition.
