Top-rated Indian men’s doubles badminton pairing of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty stand on the cusp of glory as they are just a win away from the title at the Hong Kong Open following their win over B Lin and Chen Kwan Cheng of Chinese Taipei in the semifinals of the event.

Rankireddy and Shetty registered a hard-fought 21-14, 20-22, 21-16 win over Junaidi and King Yap in a quarterfinal fixture that lasted just over an hour on Friday.
The eighth-seeded Indian pair started slowly, but once they reached 12-all, they surged ahead with powerful smashes, conceding little to their opponents and clinching the last five points consecutively.
The Malaysians found their rhythm in the second game and made a strong comeback, matching the Indians in court coverage.
After trailing early, they equalised at 6-all and then maintained their lead over the eighth-seeded Indian pair for most of the game until Satwik and Chirag drew level at 20-all.
However, the Malaysians managed to hold on and take the game, making it 1-1.
In the decider, the Indians elevated their game and did not allow the opponents to take the lead or pose any threat, securing an easy win in the end.
On Thursday, the world No. 9 Satwik and Chirag edged out Thailand’s Peeratchai Sukphun and Pakkapon Teeraratsakul to secure a place in the quarterfinals.
