Maruti Invicto receives 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating


Bharat NCAP has announced that the Maruti Invicto MPV has achieved a 5-star rating in its safety tests. The Invicto’s 5-star score means Maruti Suzuki now has 3 models with a 5-star safety rating, following the Dzire sedan and the Victoris SUV. As is usually the case, the safety rating applies to all three Invicto variants.

  2. Maruti Invicto child occupancy protection (COP) score is 45/49
  3. Maruti Invicto price range is Rs 24.97 lakh-28.61 lakh

In the frontal offset deformable barrier and the side movable deformable barrier tests, the Invicto MPV achieved scores of 14.43/16 and 16/16; 1.57 points were deduced as the driver and front passenger’s chest area showed only adequate protection, as did the driver dummy’s shin. The Invicto’s overall AOP score was 30.43/32.Maruti’s premium MPV was also given a OK rating in the side pole impact test.

Interestingly, the Toyota Innova Hycross, which is the Invicto’s badge-engineered sibling and was the first MPV and first hybrid to be crash tested by Bharat NCAP, managed a marginally higher AOP score of 30.47/32.

The Invicto and the Hycross have identical child occupancy protection scores of 45/49. Both got full points in the dynamic test (24/24) and the CRS installation test (12/12), but scored 9 out of 13 in the vehicle assessment test. The 18-month-old and 3-year-old child dummies were tested in rearward-facing child seats, secured by ISOFIX mounts and a support leg. While both MPVs get ISOFIX anchors as standard on the outboard rear seats, they miss out on an integrated child restraint system.

All variants of the Maruti Invicto come with safety equipment such as 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, rear disc brakes, a tyre pressure monitor, an electornic parking brake with an auto hold function, three-point seatbelts for all passengers and a 360-degree camera as standard. Available in Zeta+ 7-seat, Zeta+ 8-seat, and Alpha+7-seat variants, the Invicto is currently prices between Rs 24.97 lakh-28.61 lakh.
