German striker Nick Woltemade entered Newcastle history books with his goal against Nottingham Forest as the Magpies registered a 2-0 win over Forest in the Premier League on Sunday.

Woltemade followed the footsteps of legends Alan Shearer and Les Ferdinand to become only the third player in the club’s history to net in his first three home games at the St. James Park.

“Alan’s a big name – and a big guy here! I can’t compare myself with him,” the German forward said following the conclusion of the game.

“Amazing feeling to celebrate in front of the Gallowgate End. I knew if I scored they would sing my name – and that’s always good motivation! Really special moment for me,” he said speaking of the famous St James Park atmosphere.

Bruno Guimaraes put the Toon Army ahead with his goal in the 58th minute before Woltemade put the game to bed with his goal six minutes form time.

The 23-year-old stepped up to take the spot kick and made no mistake with an unstoppable shot fired into the top-left corner of the goal to send the fans into delirium and cementing his place in Newcastle folklore.

Shearer, the all-time PL top-scorer, accomplished the feat in the year 1995, before Ferdinand emulated the English striker the next year in Newcastle’s famous black and white stripes.

Eddie Howe and Co. climbed to 11th in the league with 9 points from 7 games.
