Akshay Kumar joined the film fraternity in mourning the loss of veteran actor Dharmendra, who passed away on November 24 at the age of 89 at his residence in Mumbai. The actor had been discharged from Breach Candy Hospital just 12 days earlier, after being admitted in late October following complaints of breathlessness. He would have turned 90 on December 8.

Sharing a heartfelt note on social media along with a throwback photograph, Akshay wrote, “Growing up, Dharmendra ji was the hero every boy wanted to be… our industry’s original He-Man. Thank you for inspiring generations. You’ll live on through your films and the love you spread. Om Shanti.”


Dharmendra’s passing has left a noticeable void in the film industry. Fondly remembered as the “He-Man” of Hindi cinema, he built a body of work that stretched across genres—action, romance, dramas, and beloved comedies. Tributes have been pouring in from colleagues and younger actors alike, all recalling his warmth, generosity, and effortless screen charisma. His contribution to Hindi cinema spans over six decades, shaping generations of performers and storytellers.
Dharmendra was last seen in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. Hours before news of his death surfaced, Maddock Films unveiled his character poster from their upcoming film Ikkis.
