The date for the JEE Advanced 2026 exam, conducted for admission to IITs, has been announced. According to the official notice, the exam will be held on May 17, 2026. IIT Roorkee is responsible for conducting JEE Advanced 2026. Candidates set to appear for the exam can check the notice on the official website, jeeadv.ac.in.

With the announcement of the exam date, students can now plan their strategies accordingly. This national-level exam determines eligibility for admission to approximately 18,160 IIT seats (based on last year’s data). It is listed as one of the toughest exams in the world.

The exam will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2026. The exam will be conducted in two compulsory papers in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode at various centres across the country.

Paper 1: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Paper 2: 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.

The duration of each paper will be three hours, making the total exam duration 6 hours. It is mandatory for candidates to appear in both papers.

JEE Advanced 2026 Eligibility Criteria

To appear for JEE Advanced 2026, candidates must first appear for the JEE Main 2026 exam. Additionally, they must rank among the top 2.5 lakh successful candidates in this exam.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has already announced the JEE Main 2026 dates:

Session 1: January 21 to January 30, 2026

Session 2: April 1 to April 10, 2026

The registration process for JEE Advanced 2026 is likely to begin after the declaration of JEE Main results in the third week of April 2026. Candidates are advised to keep a check on the official JEE Advanced website, jeeadv.ac.in, for the latest updates.

The JEE Advanced exam opens the doors for millions of engineering aspirants across the country to secure admission to prestigious B.Tech, B.Sc., and other engineering courses at IITs. Last time, the cutoff marks for admission to IITs were reduced. To be included in the JEE Advanced Common Rank List (CRL) 2025, a candidate was required to score at least 5.83% in each subject and 20.56% overall.
