Thomas Frank admitted there are no shortcuts out of Tottenham’s slump after a bruising 3-0 Premier League defeat at Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Spurs unravelled at the City Ground as Callum Hudson-Odoi punished a costly error while playing out from the back, before adding a second with what looked like an overhit cross that caught goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario hopelessly out of position. Ibrahim Sangare then piled on the misery with a stunning strike to cap a miserable afternoon.

The defeat halted what had looked like early momentum under Frank, following a draw at Newcastle and wins over Brentford and Slavia Prague. Instead, Spurs now have just one win in their last seven league games and remain stuck in mid-table.

Frank, in his first season after replacing Ange Postecoglou — whose side finished 17th last year — was blunt when asked about patience.

“I can’t see why not,” he said. “If no one gets time, no one can turn this around. This is not a quick fix.”

While outwardly calm, the Dane revealed the frustration bubbling beneath the surface.

“I do everything to control my emotions, which is a hurricane inside me,” Frank said. “It’s deeply frustrating that we’re not doing better today after three good performances.”

Frank did not sugarcoat Spurs’ display, labelling it a “very bad performance,” but stressed that real change will take time.

“No one wants to hear that,” he admitted. “But it’s reality. There’s been a lack of consistency, and that’s what we’re trying to fix. We’re working very hard.”

For Spurs, the rebuild is clearly underway — but the storm clouds are far from clearing.
