Tata Motors has outlined its EV plans for 2026. The company has confirmed that it will enter the premium EV market under the Avinya brand by the end of 2026, following the Sierra.ev and Punch.ev launches in the first half of 2026. These three models will form the core of Tata’s next EV wave, with three more nameplates to follow by FY30 as the brand expands its electric line-up across more segments.
Tata’s EV expansion comes as the company crosses 2.5 lakh EV sales in India. The Nexon.ev is the first EV in the country to pass 1 lakh sales units, and about 26 percent of Tata’s EV customers are first-time car buyers.

- Avinya range positioned as Tata’s new premium EV line
- Three additional EV nameplates to follow, taking total to five by FY30
What to expect from the Sierra.ev and Punch.ev
Upcoming SUVs to increase Tata’s footprint across core EV segments

The Sierra.ev will join the midsize electric SUV segment and is expected to offer RWD and AWD options. It will carry over design elements from the ICE Sierra, while maintaining EV specific elements like a closed-off front panel with fewer openings. The Sierra.ev is expected be based on the acti.ev+ platform, shared with the Harrier EV.
The Punch.ev is expected to get updates in line with the ICE Punch, which is due for a facelift early next year. The EV should see similar mid-cycle changes, including exterior tweaks and a few added features, while continuing to be Tata’s most affordable electric SUV.
With these models, Tata’s EV line-up will cover more segments alongside the Tiago.ev, Tigor.ev, Nexon.ev, Curvv.ev and Harrier.ev.
Avinya brand to launch its first model in 2026
New premium EV line to debut Tata’s Gen 3 platform

The Avinya models will be the first to use Tata’s Gen 3 skateboard born-electric platform. The first Avinya model is expected to arrive by the end of CY26 and will be positioned above Tata’s current EV range. The new platform will enable larger and more advanced models and gives Tata an entry into the premium EV segment, where it does not currently compete.
Three more EV nameplates to follow through FY30
Upcoming models to be supported by expanded charging infrastructure
Tata will introduce three additional EV nameplates between FY27 and FY30, taking the total to five new EVs in the next five years. Among these will be the Sierra EV and the first model under the Avinya brand, while the others could also be new additions to the Avinya family. These models will extend Tata’s presence across more segments and will be rolled out alongside routine updates to the existing range.
The expansion will also be supported by a growing charging network, with 400,000 charge points targeted by CY27, including over 30,000 public fast chargers, and a planned scale-up to 1 million charge points and 100,000 public chargers by 2030.
