DR Congo climbed to second in Group D at the ongoing African Cup of Nations on Wednesday following their 3-0 win over Botswana at the Al Medina Stadium in Rabat.

Unbeaten Congo took their tally to 7 points in three games in Group D following their triumph over Botswana as Nathanael Mbuku found the back of the net before Gael Kakuta’s brace sealed the deal.

Mbuku put the Leopards ahead just after the half-hour mark as he broke the deadlock, before Kakuta added his side’s second ten minutes later as DR Congo took a two-goal lead into the break.
Kakuta put the result beyond any doubt in the hour mark as he turned the ball into the net from the spot for his second of the day and the Leopards’ third of the night.
DR Congo, who finished second in their group behind Senegal, will take on Group E toppers Algeria in their knockou game on the 6th of January as Riyad Mahrez and Co. secured qualification with two wins in their opening games.
