Every year, millions of young individuals begin preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Examination, aspiring to join the nation’s most prestigious civil service. Along this demanding journey, some stories go beyond mere success and provide lessons in discipline, balance, and self-confidence. One such story is that of IAS officer Shraddha Gome from Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Her passion for studies was evident from a young age. She completed her schooling at St. Raphael’s Higher Secondary School in Indore, achieving top marks in both her 10th and 12th grade board exams. Her journey exemplifies that hard work in the right direction never goes in vain. (Instagram/@shraddhagome_ias)

Gome’s family was instrumental in her success. Her mother, Vandana, a homemaker, always encouraged her to be self-reliant and disciplined, while her father, Ramesh Kumar Gome, a retired SBI officer, taught her to prioritise her studies. After school, she took the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) and achieved the top rank nationwide, earning her admission to the prestigious National Law School of India University (NLSIU) in Bangalore. There, her hard work and talent continued to shine. (Instagram/@shraddhagome_ias)

After completing her college studies, Shraddha was awarded a gold medal by the then Chief Justice of India, Deepak Mishra, at her convocation, marking a significant achievement in her academic journey. Following her law studies, Shraddha’s career led her to Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL). She worked as a legal manager in London and Mumbai under the Unilever Future Leaders Programme. Despite having a secure and promising career, her dream of serving her country continued to grow. (Instagram/@shraddhagome_ias)

After graduating, she decided to take the UPSC Civil Services Examination. She selected law as her optional subject and left her job to prepare. Remarkably, she relied entirely on self-study without any coaching. In an interview, Shraddha Gome disclosed that she consistently studied for about 9 to 10 hours each day from the start. The key strengths of her preparation were regularity, a proper strategy, and self-discipline. (Instagram/@shraddhagome_ias)

Her hard work paid off, and in 2021, she passed the UPSC Civil Services Examination on her first attempt. She achieved an All India Rank of 60 (AIR 60) and became an IAS officer. (Instagram/@shraddhagome_ias)
