The Rajasthan Public Service Commission has revised the syllabus for the Rajasthan State and Subordinate Services Combined Competitive Examination, available on its website. The RAS 2026 exam will follow the new syllabus, marking the first major change since 2013. The commission has changed approximately 25% of the syllabus.
A 20-mark module on sports and yoga has been removed from the RAS prelims and replaced by provisions of the Rajasthan Examination Act 2022. The RAS main exam, which previously consisted of four papers—three on general knowledge and one on English and Hindi—has seen changes. The general knowledge section now has fewer modules, with the sports and yoga module reduced and law and management portions increased. All two-mark questions have been eliminated, replaced by questions carrying 5 and 10 marks.
Hindi and English question papers are now divided into parts A, B, and C, reported News18 Hindi. Part A is allocated 90 marks in Hindi, Part B has 70 marks in English, and Part C, which includes an essay, carries 40 marks with six topics. Now, candidates must write one essay in either Hindi or English.
The fourth paper (General Hindi and English) of the RAS main exam has also been modified. The previous 15 questions carrying two marks have been replaced with 5 and 10 mark questions. This paper now comprises three sections: Hindi, English, and essays.
