UPSC CSE Notification 2026: On February 4, 2026, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the notification for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) and Indian Forest Service (IFS) 2026. This marks the start of the country’s most prestigious recruitment process. It includes the full recruitment calendar for 933 civil service positions, with the application deadline on February 24, 2026, the preliminary exam on May 24, 2026, and the main exam on August 21, 2026.

However, upon release, candidates were shocked. The official document, over 150 pages long, contained numerous spelling and typographical errors, which are now being discussed on social media. Screenshots of the errors are going viral.

The notification repeatedly contains basic spelling mistakes such as:

— On pages 2, 17, and 156, ‘Examinaiton’ is written three times instead of ‘Examination’.

— On pages 1, 18, 24, and 156, ‘Cadidate’ is written instead of ‘Candidate’.

— On page 6, ‘Statuary’ is written instead of ‘Statutory’.

— On page 6, ‘PRABITHA Setu portal’ is written instead of ‘PRATIBHA Setu Portal’.

— On page 7, ‘Functinal’ is written instead of ‘Functional’.

— On page 7, ‘Bechmark’ is written instead of ‘Benchmark’.

— On page 8, ‘Abreviations’ is written instead of ‘Abbreviations’.

— On page 9, ‘Kolkatta’ is written instead of ‘Kolkata’.

— ‘Undersigned’ is replaced by ‘Undersinged’.

— ‘Beynd’ is written instead of ‘Beyond’.

— ‘Forefeit’ is written instead of ‘Forfeit’.

— ‘Ago-based industries’ is written instead of ‘Agro-based industries’.

— ‘Public sector underkings’ is written instead of ‘Public Sector Undertaking’.

— ‘Associated’ is written instead of ‘Associated’.

These mistakes are scattered throughout the document.

As soon as the notification was released, screenshots went viral on social media. Users are trolling and questioning how the commission, which conducts one of the world’s toughest exams, could make so many mistakes in an official document. Many pointed out that if a candidate makes such a mistake, marks will be deducted or the form will be rejected, but what does the commission care?

Candidates Question UPSC’s Professionalism

UPSC exams are extremely rigorous. A small mistake on the OMR sheet can lead to an attempt being canceled. Incorrect details in the application form can lead to rejection. Every line in the essay is scrutinised, yet the UPSC’s 150-page official notification itself is riddled with basic spelling and grammar errors. Candidates are complaining that if they had made such a mistake, they would have been rejected at the time of filling out the form itself. But how could so many errors appear in the commission’s documents?

The UPSC is a constitutional body in India. It selects top officers for the country, such as the IAS, IPS, and IFS. Candidates spend years preparing for grammar, essay writing, and ethics, yet the commission’s own notification appears to be a draft. There’s no editorial review, no legal vetting, and no final quality check.
