Indian shooters Elavenil Valarivan and Meghna Sajjanar ensured that the nation would have a double representation on the podium in the Women’s 10m Air Rifle event at the Asian Championships on Saturday as the duo clinched gold and bronze, respectively.
Valarivan topped the event with 252 points, while Sajjanar, who is eight months pregnant, came in third with a score of 229.5, and ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu lauded the efforts of Sajjanar to compete and achieve while carrying.
Sindhu posted, “Eight months pregnant and still stepping onto the range to win a bronze medal. Meghna, my friend, watching you do this fills me with so much respect and admiration.”
