The Indian Army has unveiled a major recruitment drive for Agniveer roles in 2026, offering over 25,000 positions across the country. Available positions include Agniveer General Duty (GD), Agniveer Technical, Agniveer Clerk/Store Keeper Technical, and Agniveer Tradesman, with eligibility extended to candidates who have completed class 8. The application process is now open following the release of the official notification.

The last date to apply is April 1, 2026. The deadline for submitting the application fee is also April 1, 2026. Corrections can be made post-submission of forms online.

Indian Army Agniveer 2026 Recruitment: Vacancies

There are over 25,000 vacancies across four main categories:

– Agniveer General Duty (GD)

– Agniveer Technical

– Agniveer Clerk/Store Keeper Technical

– Agniveer Tradesman

Indian Army Agniveer 2026 Recruitment: Eligibility Criteria

Each post has specific requirements:

Agniveer General Duty (GD):

– Must have passed the 10th grade with at least 45% aggregate marks and 33% in each subject.

Agniveer Technical:

– 12th pass in Science stream (Physics, Chemistry, Maths, and English) with 50% aggregate marks and 40% in each subject, or 10th pass with a 2-year ITI course.

Agniveer Clerk/Store Keeper Technical:

– 12th pass from any stream with at least 60% aggregate marks and 50% in each subject, with compulsory subjects being English and Mathematics/Accounting.

Agniveer Tradesman:

– 8th or 10th pass with a minimum of 33% marks in each subject.

Indian Army Agniveer 2026 Recruitment: Selection Process

The recruitment process consists of two main stages:

First Stage – Online Examination (CEE):

– Computer-based test with multiple-choice questions (MCQ).

– Full marks for correct answers, no negative marking for incorrect answers, and no marks deducted for unattempted questions.

Second Stage:

– A merit list will be prepared based on online exam scores.

– Qualified candidates will be called for the recruitment rally.

– A typing test is required for the Agniveer Clerk/Storekeeper position, with a minimum speed of 30 words per minute in English.

– Only those who pass the typing test will proceed to the next stage.

The application fee is Rs 250 for all candidates, payable online through the SBI portal using net banking, credit card, or debit card. The fee is non-refundable.

– Click on Registration and complete your profile using your Aadhaar card or 10th standard certificate.

– Upload the required documents (photograph, signature, marksheet, etc.).

– Pay the application fee online.

– Review the form and click Submit.

– Download and keep a copy of the form.

Selected Agniveers will receive Rs 30,000 per month in the first year, with annual increments of Rs 5,000, reaching Rs 40,000 in the fourth year. 30% of this amount will be deposited in the Agniveer Fund, resulting in a net salary of approximately Rs 21,000 in the first year and around Rs 28,000 in the fourth year.
