BITS Pilani has announced that it will introduce tuition-blind admissions for the top 500 BITSAT rankers from the academic year 2026–27. Under the new policy, eligible candidates whose annual family income is up to Rs 20 lakh will receive a full tuition scholarship for all four years, provided they maintain a minimum CGPA of 7.5 at their campus.
The institute said the benefit will be built into the admission offer itself and students will not have to apply separately for a scholarship after joining. The move is aimed at ensuring that meritorious students can choose the institute without financial constraints.
BITS Pilani said it has long followed a scholarship-driven support system. In the last year alone, the institute distributed Rs 132 crore in merit and merit-cum-need scholarships, with about one in four students across its campuses receiving financial assistance.
The initiative has been made possible through alumni support and institutional funding. The institute said it plans to gradually expand the coverage in the coming years with the long-term aim of moving towards tuition-blind admissions for all students.

Commenting on the decision, Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao, Group Vice Chancellor, BITS Pilani, said, “We have invested heavily in scholarships for years, but tuition blind admissions for our top 500 BITSAT rankers is a defining step. If you have the talent, money should not come in the way. We will keep expanding this year on year until we can make BITS fully tuition blind for every admission.”
