CBSE warns students and parents not to believe rumours or fake paper leak messages during 2026 board exams.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a public advisory asking students, parents and schools to stay alert against fake news and rumours during the CBSE Board Examinations 2026.
The CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 annual examinations began on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. This year, 25,08,319 students are appearing for Class 10 exams, including 14,08,546 boys and 10,99,773 girls. For Class 12, a total of 18,59,551 students are taking the exams, comprising 10,27,552 boys and 8,31,999 girls.
According to CBSE data, Class 10 exams are being conducted for 83 subjects across 8,075 examination centres, while Class 12 exams cover 120 subjects at 7,574 centres.
In the advisory, the board cautioned that some unscrupulous elements may spread misinformation on social media during the exam period, including false claims of question paper leaks and circulation of alleged question papers.
CBSE said such misleading information can create anxiety and confusion among students and parents and may affect preparation and performance.
The board urged students, parents and school authorities not to believe or forward unverified messages or rumours. It also warned that strict action will be taken against anyone found spreading misinformation or attempting to disrupt the examination process, as per rules and regulations.
