Supreme Court Recruitment 2026: Vacancy Details
Out of the total 22 vacancies, there are 5 positions for Assistant Editor (Supreme Court Reports), 1 position for Assistant Director (Ex-cadre, Supreme Court Museum), 2 positions for Senior Court Assistant (Ex-cadre, Supreme Court Museum), and 14 positions for Assistant Librarian.
Supreme Court Recruitment 2026: Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must be Indian citizens.
Educational Qualification:
For the Assistant Editor role, candidates must have a law degree from a university recognised by the Bar Council of India, or be members of the English Bar, or be High Court Attorneys.
For the Assistant Director position, candidates need a first-class Master’s degree in Museology, along with knowledge of Indian antiquities, museum techniques, publications, and educational activities.
Candidates for the Senior Court Assistant position must have a Master’s degree in Museology with at least 55% marks.
Applicants for the Assistant Librarian role should possess a degree in Library Science and have completed a Computer Application Diploma recognized by AICTE or DOEACC or a Library Automation Course from NISCAIR.
Age Limit:
The age limits for the Assistant Editor and Assistant Director positions are between 30 and 40 years. The maximum age limit for the Senior Court Assistant role is 35 years, and for the Assistant Librarian, it is 30 years. Age relaxation is available for SC, ST, OBC, PWD, Ex-Servicemen, and Freedom Fighters in accordance with Government of India rules, with relevant certificates required at the time of interview. There is no upper age limit for departmental candidates working in the Supreme Court Registry, while no age relaxation is provided for candidates from other government departments.
Eligibility will be calculated as of March 1, 2026.
Supreme Court Recruitment 2026: Application Fees
The application fee is Rs. 1500 for General and OBC candidates, and Rs. 750 for SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, Differently-enabled, and Freedom Fighters.
Supreme Court Recruitment 2026: Salary Details
Regarding salary details, the starting basic pay for the Assistant Editor position under Pay Level 12 is Rs. 78,800. The Assistant Director role under Pay Level 11 starts at Rs. 67,700. The starting basic pay for Senior Court Assistant and Assistant Librarian positions under Pay Level 8 is Rs. 47,600. Additionally, allowances are provided as per regulations.
