The scooter shown above is the “Indie” from a startup named River, based in Bangalore. It is also popularly known as the “SUV” of scooters due to its rugged and boxy design that gives it a combined storage capacity of 55 litres. The underseat storage is massive at 43 litres, the largest in India. It can easily fit a full size and a half face helmet together. You also get an additional 12-litres of lockable storage in the front apron. If all this storage doesn’t suffice, River will also sell you a pannier set that can be attached to the integrated crash guards that double up as pannier stays.
Its design is quirky to look at with the boxy twin LED headlights and an overall square design philosophy. The scooter also has a massive floor board that can be customized to carry other items.
The scooter has a 4kWh battery with a motor that is capable of propelling this 137kg EV to a top-speed of 90kph while providing a claimed IDC range of 163km. The charging time with the use of a standard charger takes 6 hrs to charge it from 0-100. It gets a LCD digital cluster and three riding modes – Eco, Ride and Rush.
