The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara and Vinfast VF6 are the most recent entrants in the electric midsize SUV space, which has grown significantly popular over the past few years. Both SUVs sport competitive pricing relative to their segment, but which of them delivers greater bang for your buck in top-spec guise? We compare the e Vitara Alpha and VF6 Wind Infinity to find out.

VF6 has a longer wheelbase despite being shorter overall
While the e Vitara has the advantage in terms of overall length and height, the VF6 is wider by 34mm and sports a 30mm longer wheelbase. Moreover, the VF6 even offers 5mm greater ground clearance and has a much larger boot, though neither electric SUV comes with a frunk for additional storage.

e Vitara has bigger battery and higher ARAI range, but VF6 is more powerful
The VF6 is certainly the more performance-oriented offering here, because even though it has a slightly smaller battery pack than that of the e Vitara, Vinfast has opted to squeeze out an extra 30hp and 117Nm from the front-mounted electric motor.
While the higher output does make for better performance – we clocked a 0-100kph time of 8.09 seconds in our testing, while the e Vitara manages 9.25 seconds for the same – the VF6 is a hefty 80km down on claimed range compared to the e Vitara.

VF6 supports faster DC wattages and charges quicker

Coming to AC charging, the e Vitara offers support for a slightly higher wattage than the VF6. Vinfast has yet to quote an AC fast charging time for the VF6, but given its smaller battery capacity, it’ll likely be slightly quicker than that of the e Vitara.
However, the script flips when we get to DC charging, as the VF6 supports up to 30kW higher wattages, which, when coupled with its smaller battery, beats the e Vitara’s DC charging speeds by a fair margin.

e Vitara has fog lamps, but VF6 uniquely gets heated ORVMs

Both SUVs are nearly matched on this front, but they do trade punches on certain features. The e Vitara comes with LED fog lamps, an important feature that the VF6 lacks. On the other hand, the VF6 is among the few cars at this price point to offer heated ORVMs, which can come in very handy during the winters.
Notably, the e Vitara is available with a dual-tone exterior finish (black roof), though it costs Rs 22,000 extra. The VF6 comes in monotone colour options only.

Inside, the e Vitara and VF6 trade punches in a lot of areas too. The VF6 has a much larger touchscreen, but the catch here is that there’s no instrument cluster in its cabin, unlike that of the e Vitara. Instead, VF6 owners can use either the infotainment system or heads-up display (e Vitara doesn’t have one) for instrumentation.
The e Vitara has two additional speakers and greater range of electrical adjustment for the driver’s seat, whereas the VF6 has a larger panoramic glass roof and its climate control offers an extra front passenger zone. However, the VF6 does miss out on reclining rear seats, which might be a big deal for some.

e Vitara gets a separate traction mode

Both electric SUVs come with adaptive cruise control, and the same drive modes and brake regeneration modes. Interestingly, the e Vitara offers a ‘Snow’ terrain mode, while the VF6 doesn’t have any such equivalent.

The e Vitara and VF6 score quite well in the safety department, offering 7 airbags, 360-degree cameras, Level 2 ADAS, front and rear disc brakes, ESC, auto-dimming IRVMs, and more. While the e Vitara one-ups the VF6 with front parking sensors, the Vinfast responds with a driver drowsiness detection system. As an additional seal of safety, the e Vitara and VF6 both hold 5-star Bharat NCAP ratings.

As for pricing, the e Vitara Alpha comes in at Rs 60,000 more expensive than the VF6 Wind Infinity. However, the e Vitara is available with a BaaS rental program, which knocks the Alpha variant’s upfront price down to Rs 14.29 lakh, with a battery usage fee of Rs 4.39/km. For buyers willing to opt for BaaS, then, the e Vitara Alpha is the no-brainer choice since it’s Rs 4.9 lakh cheaper up front than the VF6 Wind Infinity.
If BaaS is off the table, though, the VF6 is the better option for buyers who want more performance and sportier styling, while the e Vitara makes sense for those willing pay more for a longer range, relaxed driving manners, and Maruti Suzuki’s far superior retail and service footprint.
