Bihar Class 1st to 8th Exam 2026 Date Sheet: The annual examination schedule for classes 1st to 8th in government and government-aided schools in Bihar has been released. The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) Bihar has announced that the exams will begin on March 12 and continue until March 19. This year, several new exam-related arrangements have been implemented to make the evaluation process more systematic and transparent.
The exams will be conducted in two shifts. The first shift will run from 10 AM to 12 PM, while the second shift will be from 1 PM to 3 PM. Students in grades 1 and 2 will have oral exams, while students in grades 3 to 8 will take written exams. Question papers will be available through the e-Shiksha Kosh portal.
A new system has been implemented this year. Previously, students wrote their answers directly on the question paper, but now students in grades 3 to 8 will receive separate answer sheets. They must write their answers on these designated answer sheets.
Answer sheets will be sent to district education offices by Bihar State Textbook Publishing Corporation Limited by March 5th and 6th. From there, block education officers will deliver them to schools. Distribution of answer sheets to all schools will be completed by March 9th and 10th.
The evaluation will be conducted from March 19 to 24. After the exams are over, answer sheets will be checked from March 19th to 24th. Evaluation will be completed within four working days, excluding Eid and Bihar Day. Progress reports will be prepared by March 25th. On March 30th, all schools will hold parent-teacher meetings (PTMs) to discuss children’s progress.
New Evaluation Process
Grades will also be given on co-curricular activities. This year, students will be evaluated not only through written exams but also based on 12 co-curricular activities. These include aspects such as regular attendance, creativity, participation in sports, cleanliness, and behaviour. A separate format will be provided to schools for this purpose.
A special strategy will be made to improve grades. Special plans will be made for students who achieve not only grades E but also grades C and D in government schools. The goal is to provide additional support to these students to help them reach grades A and B. The evaluated answer sheets will also be shown to parents so they can understand their children’s progress.
Thus, annual examinations for classes 1 to 8 in Bihar will be conducted with a new system and improved evaluation methodology.
