World Champion D Gukesh was held to a draw with Czech hope David Navarra, while Aravindh Chidambaram went down to German Vincent Keymer in Round 4 of the Prague International Chess Festival.

Divya Deshmukh and Vaclav Finek played out a draw while Suriya Sekhar Ganguly and Stephen Hrbek also shared the spoils in the Challengers section.

Benjamin Gledura of Hungary got the better of Dane Jonas Buhl Bejjerie, while Jachym Nemec of Czechia got the better of Dutchman Thomas Beerdsen. Danil Yuffa of Spain beat China’s Jiner Zhu in the challengers category.

American Hans Niemann and Parham Maghsoodloo played out a draw in the masters section, while Spaniard David Anton Guijaro and Uzbeki Nordibek Abdusattorov shared the spoils. The latter’s compatriot, Nordibek Yakuboev, went down to Dutchman Jorden Van Foreest in the masters category on Sunday.

A day earlier,

Gukesh and Divya Deshmukh faced defeats in the third round of the event in the Czech Republic.

Chidambaram and Parham Maghsoodloo settled for a draw, while Gukesh lost to Dutchman Jorde Van Foreest, and Divya was defeated by China’s Zhu Jiner.

Uzbekistan’s Nordibek Yakuboev shared points with American Hans Niemann, while local favourite David Navara drew with Spaniard David Anton Guijaro in the masters category. Nordibek Abdusattorov and German Vincent Keymer also drew their match.

In the challengers category, Danil Yuffa of Spain triumphed over Hungary’s Benjamin Gledura, while Vaclav Finek won against Stepan Hrbek in the all-Czech contest.

Indian Suriya Shekhar Ganguly lost to Czechia’s Jachym Nemec, and Thomas Beerdsen of the Netherlands was defeated by Dane Jonas Buhl Bejjerie.
