A heavily camouflaged test mule of the Tata Tiago EV has once again been spied testing on our roads, this time revealing new design details of the refreshed hatchback. The Tiago EV was just updated last year with a significantly improved interior, but the latest sighting suggests there will be considerable updates to the exterior design this time around. Tata Motors could also throw in a larger battery, just as they did with the Punch EV facelift recently.
- Tiago EV facelift expected to get new bumpers, headlights and wheels
- Could be offered with larger battery packs
- Launch expected in the second half of 2025
Tata Tiago EV facelift: what to expect?
The spy shots suggest that the updated Tiago EV will come with a thoroughly redone fascia, replete with new headlights, bumper and grille. The LED DRL signature seems to be housed within the headlamp in a brow-like fashion, as opposed to the bumper-mounted DRLs on the current car. The headlamps themselves look sharper with new internals, and it seems to sport a new design for the grille as well. The bumper also looks a lot cleaner with fewer contouring, likely in the interest of aerodynamic efficiency.
In profile, the updated Tiago EV can be expected to get a new set of alloy wheels, while at the rear, it looks like there’s a new connected tail light treatment, hinted by the distinct protrusions on the tail gate. It also gets a reworked rear bumper, and the tail lamps too could be updated with new internals.
Tata Motors is unlikely to make significant changes to the interior of the 2026 Tiago EV, considering the 2025 model update was fairly comprehensive. However, this facelift could come with a new digital driver’s display as the current Tiago EV makes do a with a very basic instrumentation.
Tata Tiago EV facelift powertrain details
Tata Motors could also use this opportunity to introduce some mechanical upgrades to the Tiago EV, just like it did with the recently launched Punch EV. For instance, the Tiago EV could benefit from Tata’s new 6-in-1 electric drivetrain that not only is more efficient and improves packaging, but is also cheaper to manufacture. The Punch EV also benefitted from larger and denser battery packs, which too, could be offered on the Tiago EV. For reference, the electric hatchback is currently offered with either 19.2kWh or a 24kWh battery packs, offering range of up to 223km and 293km, respectively.
The 2025 Tata Tiago is priced between Rs 7.99 lakh and Rs 11.14 lakh (ex-showroom). Notably, tata Motors managed to slash prices for the Punch EV with the facelift, so it remains to be seen if they can mete out the same treatment for the Tiago EV. A launch can be expected in the second half of 2026 and competitors to this Tata hatchback include the MG Comet and the Citroen eC3.
