Rajeshwari Suve M from Madurai has emerged as the only female topper in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025, securing a place among the top five rank holders. Her achievement adds another milestone to her career in public service by securing AIR 2.
An Electrical Engineering graduate from Anna University, Chennai, Rajeshwari completed her degree in 2018. She had earlier topped the TNPSC Group I examination and later served as a Deputy Collector.
For the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025, she chose Sociology as her optional subject. Tamil is her mother tongue, and she has opted for Tamil Nadu as her home cadre.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has recommended 958 candidates for appointment to various central civil services after the completion of the Civil Services Examination.
According to the Commission, the selection process for the examination is carried out in three stages every year — the preliminary examination, the main examination and the personality test (interview). Through this process, candidates are selected for prestigious services such as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS), among others.
In its statement, the UPSC said the candidature of 348 recommended candidates has been kept provisional.
Earlier, the Centre had informed the Commission that a total of 1,087 vacancies would be filled through the Civil Services Examination.
