The Central Board of Secondary Education conducted the Class 12 Mathematics exam on March 9. The exam was held from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm for students across the country. According to students and teachers, the paper was moderately difficult but lengthy.
Experts said the question paper followed the prescribed syllabus and exam pattern. It included a mix of objective questions, short answers, long answers and case study-based questions.
Nishant Kumar Singh, Subject Matter Expert at Seth M.R. Jaipuria Schools, said the paper was well structured and tested both conceptual understanding and analytical ability.
“The multiple-choice questions in Section A were largely concept-based and tested fundamental knowledge across different chapters. Assertion–reason questions required students to apply logical reasoning, which reflects the current emphasis on competency-based assessment,” he said.
Sections B and C included very short and short answer questions aimed at testing clarity of concepts and procedural understanding.
Singh said the long answer questions in Section D were moderately challenging and required students to apply multiple concepts, especially from matrices, probability, vectors and three-dimensional geometry.
“The case study–based questions in Section E were a positive inclusion as they connected mathematical ideas with real-life situations. Such questions encouraged students to interpret information, analyse scenarios, and apply mathematical concepts in context,” he added.
He said the overall paper was balanced and manageable for students who had practised NCERT and exemplar questions.
Another teacher, Vijay Giri, Mathematics Faculty at Satya School in Gurugram, said the paper was moderate but time-consuming.

“Class 12 CBSE maths ,the paper was moderate, but lengthy and one MCQ was confusing, integration was lengthy but doable, three dimensional n vectors were easy and those who have done past year papers they wll score good JEE Aspirants were again Happy as their skills were way higher than others and they can easily Score 95-100 . overall paper was not highly conceptual but calculation part was tough,it took full 3 hrs to solve and no time to revise , most students were happy after the paper,” he said.
Overall, teachers said students with strong preparation and regular practice would find the paper manageable, though many felt it required the full three hours to complete.
