Bahrain’s Bapco Energies declares force majeure amid Middle East war

Bapco Energies has declared a force majeure on its group operations after an attack on its refinery complex amid the ongoing regional conflict in the Middle East.

The integrated energy company of Bahrain issued the notice on March 8, stating that the incident and the broader regional tensions have affected parts of its operations.

The company said domestic fuel supplies in Bahrain remain secure under contingency plans and that it will continue updating stakeholders on operational developments.

The company said it has activated contingency plans to ensure that domestic energy supplies remain uninterrupted. According to the statement, “all local market requirements are fully secured, and supply continuity will be maintained without disruption.”

Bapco Energies added that it values its relationships with stakeholders and will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

The company operates across the entire energy value chain in Bahrain through several subsidiaries and specialised operating companies. Its portfolio includes refining, upstream oil and gas operations, gas processing, aviation fuelling, LNG infrastructure and fuel retail networks.

Key subsidiaries include Bapco Refining, which manages one of the region’s most advanced refining facilities and oversees the Bapco Modernization Program, the largest energy investment in Bahrain.

Other units include Bapco Upstream, responsible for exploration and production activities in the Bahrain Field, as well as Bapco Gas, which processes associated gas and supplies industries in the kingdom.

The company also operates aviation refuelling infrastructure at Bahrain International Airport and manages the country’s LNG import terminal and national fuel station network.
