Actress Shefali Shah penned a heartfelt note on Instagram praising Ranveer Singh amid the success of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, calling him “pure heart”.
Ranveer is currently basking in acclaim for his performance in the spy thriller, directed by Aditya Dhar, in which he plays Hamza Ali Mazari and Jaskirat Singh Rangi. Several actors and viewers have described his performance as among the best of his career.
Shefali, who played Ranveer’s mother in Dil Dhadakne Do, recounted their first interaction during the dance rehearsal of Gallan Goodiyaan in Mumbai. Sharing a clip from an awards function where Ranveer lifted her on stage, she wrote on Instagram, “The first time I met @ranveersingh was exactly like this. I was at the dance rehearsal of Gallan Goodiyaan in a studio in Mumbai. All the actors were arriving while I stood to the side, trying to be invisible, giving awkward smiles and greeting everyone.”
She added, “And suddenly, from behind, I was lifted off the ground by trespassing arms. I was ready to snap when I heard a very excited voice saying, ‘Shefu, let’s make a kick-ass film.’ It was Ranveer. This was our very first interaction. And just like that, we became a team. That’s Ranveer, and that’s why I adore him so much. He has no filters. His ability to feel emotions and express them honestly is almost childlike.”
Shefali shared that Ranveer’s energy, enthusiasm, and warmth are infectious. “His passion for people, and for anything he does, is unwavering. Ran (I call him that out of affection) treats you as if you truly matter, and that is very heartwarming. He is completely a team player. He understands the importance of every character and knows when to step back and support others. That takes immense confidence and a deep understanding that a film is a collaborative effort, not a measure of individual achievement.”
Released in 2015, Zoya Akhtar’s directorial Dil Dhadakne Do featured Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Ranveer Singh, Farhan Akhtar, and Anushka Sharma.
She further wrote, “After the release of DDD, he went to theatres quietly and later messaged me to compliment my work. His compliments, like everything about him, are never restrained. He is not formal or put on. He is absolutely genuine – someone who feels deeply and expresses it freely, both as a person and as an actor. I am a huge fan of Ranveer the actor. If he is in a film or even an advertisement, I will watch it just for him. He is simply one of the finest actors there is, and consistently so. His performances are layered, yet he makes them look effortless.”
Highlighting his craft, Shefali added, “That is the beauty. You never see Ranveer Singh, the actor, or his craft. You only see honesty, vulnerability, and rawness. Whether it is Bajirao, Kapil Dev, Khilji, Jaskirat or Hamza – you only see the character. Ranveer is pure heart and sheer madness, and that is where his magic lies.”
Talking about Dhurandhar: The Revenge, the film’s strong box office run and widespread industry acclaim have made it one of the biggest successes of 2026. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the action drama stars Ranveer in the lead, alongside Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, and Rakesh Bedi, with Yami Gautam appearing in a cameo.
