Hours after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) moved to replace MP Raghav Chadha as the party’s deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha, the AAP leader, in a strongly worded response, shared a video of himself on social media and stated that he must be “silenced, but is not defeated”.

Chadha, in his message to the ‘aam aadmi’, said that whenever he got a chance to speak in the Parliament, he utilised the opportunity to raise the issues of the common people. However, he quickly targeted AAP and questioned the party if raising people’s voices is a crime.

“Whenever I got a chance to speak in Parliament, I raised public issues. The topics nobody dares to raise, but is raising public issues a crime? Have I committed a crime? Have I made a mistake? Have I done something wrong?” Chadha asked in a video message posted on X.

“I am asking this question because the AAP told the Secretariat to stop Raghav Chadda from speaking in Parliament,” he added.

Chadha’s message came after a dramatic turn of events took place on Thursday, after the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party dropped him from the position of deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha and requested the Secretariat to disallow him floor time.

Notably, AAP on Thursday wrote to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat seeking Chadha’s removal and proposed the name of Punjab MP Ashok Mittal as his replacement as the party’s deputy leader in the Upper House.

Raghav Chadha is among the youngest MPs in the country and was once considered a close confidant of Kejriwal. He had played a key role in party affairs, particularly in Punjab and during the AAP’s tenure in Delhi.
