For many young Indians, becoming an Agniveer in the Indian Army is both a matter of pride and a financially rewarding opportunity. Under the Agnipath scheme, selected candidates serve for four years and receive a fixed annual package that increases each year. In addition to the monthly salary, a portion of the pay is deposited into a savings corpus, with the government contributing an equal amount. At the end of the tenure, Agniveers receive a tax-free Seva Nidhi package worth around ₹10 lakh, excluding interest. (Image: R Senthilkumar/PTI Photo)
