The National Testing Agency (NTA) has extended the registration process for the UGC NET June 2026 exam. The application window which was initially scheduled to close on May 20 has been extended till May 23.

“Good news for UGC NET June 2026 aspirants! We’ve extended the application deadline to 23 May 2026 based on candidate requests,” states the official post shared by NTA on X.

As per the official notification, the exam will be conducted from June 22 to June 30, 2026. Candidates can expect advance intimation of exam cities by June 10, and admit cards will be issued by June 15.

UGC NET is conducted for eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor posts, and admission to PhD programmes in universities. The exam will be held in computer-based test (CBT) mode. This year, the UGC has introduced a new subject, Statistics, in the NET exam. With this addition, the total number of subjects in the NET exam has increased to 85.

UGC NET June 2026: Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the UGC NET exam, you must have a master’s degree in the relevant subject from a recognised university. General category candidates must have at least 55% marks, while OBC (non-creamy layer), SC, ST, differently-abled, and third-gender candidates must have at least 50% marks. Students in the final year of their master’s degree are also eligible to apply.

General/Unreserved Category – Rs 1150

General-EWS/OBC-NCL – Rs 600

SC/ST/Divyang and Third Gender – Rs 325

Step 2 – Click on “New Registration”

Step 3 – Enter your name, mobile number, and email address

Step 4 – Obtain the Application Number and Password

Step 5 – Log in and complete the application form

Step 6 – Upload your photograph and signature

Step 7 – Upload category certificate (if applicable)

Step 8 – Select the exam centre

Step 9 – Pay the fee online

Step 10 – Submit the final form

Step 11 – Download/print the confirmation page
