Karnataka launched work on a new state of the art stadium infrastructure project in Anekal taluk, near Bannerghatta National Park on Sunday, in what is expected to be the state’s biggest drive in a prolonged period of time.
The project, under the aegis of the Karnataka Housing Board, look to bring about the development over 75 sprawling ares of land at an estimated cost of around INR 934 Crores.
The stadium, planned with a capacity to hold 80,000 fans, is touted to become the second biggest stadium in the nation, only being the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
In addition to cricket, the stadium is set to house a multi-sport complex, furnished with modern cutting-edge equipment.
The state’s Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar laid the foundation stone for the project at the Indlawadi Village. The project is touted as an initiative to transform the sporting landscape of the state.
