The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Friday extended the deadline for Class 12 students to apply for verification and re-evaluation of answer sheets by one day, following complaints about technical issues on its post-result services portal.

Students will now be able to submit applications until midnight on June 7, instead of the earlier deadline of midnight on June 6.

The decision comes after several students reported difficulties in accessing scanned copies of their answer books and filing applications for verification and re-evaluation through the portal, which was launched on June 2.

“In the interest of students, the CBSE has decided to extend the last date for submission of applications for verification and re-evaluation for the Class 12 board examinations, thereby providing students additional time and support to complete the process,” the board said in a post on X.

“Students are requested to take note of the revised schedule and submit their applications accordingly,” it added.

What Students Can Report

The CBSE had opened the online portal on June 2 for students seeking verification of issues in scanned copies of answer books and re-evaluation of answers.

Students can raise concerns related to missing pages, missing supplementary sheets, omitted maps or graphs, blurred scans, incorrect answer books, or evaluation against a different question paper set.

The portal was launched later than initially planned, with the board having earlier indicated that the application process would begin by May 29.

OSM Row Continues To Shadow CBSE

The extension comes amid an ongoing controversy surrounding the CBSE’s On-Screen Marking (OSM) system.

Several Class 12 students have alleged that the scanned copies of answer sheets uploaded by the board did not match their handwriting, sparking concerns about possible mismatches during the digital evaluation process.

The issue has triggered protests from students and parents, with demands for a thorough investigation into the evaluation system.

Amid the controversy, CBSE Chairman Rahul Singh and Secretary Himanshu Gupta have been replaced by Prashant Lokhande and Varun Bhardwaj, respectively.

The Cabinet Secretariat has also constituted a one-member committee to investigate the procurement of services related to the OSM system and examine concerns raised over the evaluation process.
