Anushi Sirohi, a 7-year-old from Saharanpur, brought laurels to the nations as she bagged the gold medal in the 800-meter race at the International Speed Skating Championship held in Kathmandu, Nepal in the under-7 category.
Sirohi, a class one student who started skating under the aegis of her father a year ago, has demonstrated prodigious talent by dominating the events at the district level before she topped the state and went on to bring glory to the tricolour at the international event.
Sirohi was extended a her’s welcome upon arrival at her village, Nagal, following the triumph as kith and kin gathered along with adoring seniors of the society to wish the youngster on her success.
The prodigy’s family credited the girl’s victory to her coaches Ravi Sharan and Rahul, who have been a crucial cog in her rapid rise to success as the youngster seeks to represent the nation at the Asian level going forward and add to her burgeoning tally of medals.
