Vanilla sugar is one of my most staple thing to have on hand. I keep it handy all the time, adding a spoonful of this into warm milk is like heaven. My whole house smells heavenly when made this.
Now I have a jar of the delicious vanilla sugar. I can use them in my baking, it will make them even better.
Ever since I started baking, vanilla has become my pantry staple ingredient. I use my homemade vanilla extract in almost every dessert I make and now I always keep this jar of homemade vanilla sugar in my pantry too.
Vanilla sugar is incredibly easy to make at home and adds a light, vanilla flavour to both baked desserts and everyday recipes.
The best part about this recipe is that it requires only two simple ingredients. Granulated sugar and a good quality vanilla bean.

To make it, I split the vanilla bean and scrape out the tiny seeds. I mix the seeds into the sugar, then place the empty vanilla pod in the jar as well. As the vanilla bean sits in the sugar, they slowly infuse it with their rich aroma and flavour.

Ingredients
- Sugar : Granulated white sugar is the best choice for making vanilla sugar. It absorbs the vanilla flavour best. You can use caster sugar too.
- Vanilla bean : Use good quality, fresh vanilla bean as it is the main flavouring agent for making the sugar. I always like to use Madagascar vanilla beans because they are rich in aroma and flavour. You can find them either online or in stores.

1)Take granulated sugar or caster sugar in a bowl.

2)Now take couple of best vanilla bean you can find. take a sharp knife. Slit it open in the centre to expose the seeds.

3)Now scrape the seeds gently. You can get black paste like seeds from the vanilla bean. Don’t discard the vanilla pod. You need to cut the pod into pieces and add into the sugar.

4)Add the vanilla beans seeds to the sugar.

5)Mix the vanilla seeds with the sugar your hands or fork so it combines evenly.

6)Add the vanilla pods into the sugar as well.

7)Take all the sugar into an air tight container.

8)Cover the container. For best result use it after 1 week. You can use this in baking. Keep adding more sugar into the container so the beans keep on infusing with the sugar.
