UK’s Coats Digital GSDCost lifts Humana Apparels’ productivity by 15%

Coats Digital is pleased to announce that Humana Apparels Pvt. Ltd., a leading outerwear manufacturer and strategic supplier to premium global brands including Hugo Boss, Marc O’Polo, Ann Taylor, and Macy’s, has achieved significant operational improvements following the implementation of Coats Digital’s GSDCost solution. GSDCost has enabled Humana to strengthen costing accuracy, boost productivity and improve delivery performance, whilst enabling teams to make faster, data-driven decisions across the business.

Humana Apparels Pvt. Ltd. is a joint venture between Busana Apparel Group and Hameem Group, combining international operational expertise with advanced manufacturing capabilities in Bangladesh. Based in Gorai, Mirzapur, Tangail, the company employs approximately 2,400 people across 28 production lines with 1,800 sewing machines, producing up to 120,000 outerwear garments per month and generating an annual turnover of around $30 million.

Bangladesh’s Humana Apparels improved costing accuracy by around 5 per cent, productivity by around 15 per cent and on-time deliveries by nearly 10 per cent after adopting Coats Digital’s GSDCost.
The move replaced manual costing with standardised SMV-based planning, strengthening production visibility, capacity alignment and buyer confidence.

Prior to implementing GSDCost, Humana relied on manual, Excel-based costing calculations which resulted in inconsistent and time-consuming processes, incorrect product costing, reduced profit margins, and delayed quotation submissions. Unstandardised data consequently meant that each planner maintained separate spreadsheets, causing variation in planning accuracy and inefficient resource allocation. Without a centralised Standard Minute Value (SMV) database in place, it was difficult to benchmark new styles against past performance, slowing decision-making and limiting optimisation.

Liton Das, Sr. Manager Operation, Humana Apparels said: “Before GSDCost, our costing processes relied heavily on manual Excel files and experience-based estimations. This often resulted in inconsistent costing, operational inefficiencies, and limited visibility into our true production capacity.”

To address these challenges, Humana Apparels partnered with Coats Digital to move away from manual, experience-led costing towards a more structured and consistent approach to SMV and cost analysis.

Suresh Pradhan, Head of Operation, Humana Apparels explained: “Humana Apparels selected Coats Digital for its strong global reputation in apparel manufacturing solutions and its deep understanding of garment production processes. With the implementation of GSDCost, we now have an accurate system for SMV calculation and costing. The solution has provided excellent visibility into our production capacity and enabled our teams to plan more effectively.”

The impact has been felt across the whole organisation. Humana Apparels can now generate accurate costings faster, while optimising method improvements to reduce unnecessary production work hours. With a centralised operations database in place, Humana Apparels benefits from a single source of truth, which has greatly improved coordination across the engineering, planning, and merchandising teams.

Suresh Pradhan, Head of Operation, Humana Apparels added: “Since implementing Coats Digital solutions, we have improved our costing accuracy by around 5%, increased productivity by around 15%, and improved our on-time delivery performance by nearly 10%. The system has significantly enhanced our planning efficiency, operational control, and overall business performance, which has led to more accurate delivery projections and greatly increased buyer confidence.”

Alongside this transformation, Humana Apparels has strengthened its operations further with Coats Digital’s FastReactPlan solution to enhance production planning visibility and improve capacity alignment. Together, the solutions have streamlined operations to ensure significant productivity gains and increased profit margins.

Golam Mahbub Sikder, Customer Success Manager, Bangladesh at Coats Digital, said:

“As global supply chains face ongoing disruption, manufacturers increasingly need digital tools to improve data visibility and ensure they can make faster, more informed decisions to remain agile and resilient. We are delighted that Humana Apparels has realised such great results with GSDCost and look forward to enjoying a long-term

partnership to fully support its objectives to drive growth and deliver sustained operational excellence.”

GSDCost, Coats Digital’s method analysis and predetermined times solution, is widely recognised as the international standard for the sewn products industry. By enabling manufacturers to establish accurate, standardised time and cost benchmarks, it supports more transparent, collaborative, and efficient supply chains, while driving measurable improvements in productivity, sustainability, and profitability.
