BJP replaced Amit Malviya as head of its IT cell with Deepak Mhaskey. Priti Gandhi, Shivanand Dwivedi, Alok Bhatt and Arun Yadav have been appointed as social media coordinators.

Taking a personal swipe at Malviya, Shrinate said she had crossed paths with him a couple of times and alleged that he struggled to articulate himself effectively.
The Congress on Monday took a swipe at the BJP after the ruling party announced its new social media team, while also congratulating the incoming team and warning them to “get ready to lose”.
Supriya Shrinate, chairperson of the Congress’ Social Media and Digital Platforms department, targeted outgoing BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya, accusing him of being an “utterly incompetent” social media head who promoted what she described as fabricated narratives.
“Congress relentlessly crushed their fake narratives on social media, spoke the truth, exposed their lies — which is why young people kept joining us,” Shrinate said in a post on X.
She also claimed that the Congress was now ahead of the BJP across social media platforms in terms of engagement and reach.

Taking a personal swipe at Malviya, Shrinate said she had crossed paths with him a couple of times and alleged that he struggled to articulate himself effectively.
Turning her attention to the BJP’s new social media team, Shrinate alleged that it included several “abusive trolls” and “hate-mongers”. She further claimed that some members had locked their social media accounts and deleted or cleaned up old posts after their appointments were announced.
The Congress leader, however, congratulated the new team and said it faced a difficult task ahead.
“Well, best wishes to the new team — your battle ahead is going to be incredibly tough. Get ready to lose,” she said, adding that the Congress would closely monitor the BJP’s moves, counter its claims and “stand up for people’s rights”.
The BJP has replaced Amit Malviya as the head of its IT cell with Deepak Mhaskey. Priti Gandhi, Shivanand Dwivedi, Alok Bhatt and Arun Yadav have been appointed as social media coordinators.
Malviya, meanwhile, earlier congratulated Mhaskey and the newly appointed social media coordinators, saying he had worked closely with them and expressing confidence in the BJP’s digital communication team.
Key Questions Answered
The new BJP social media team is likely to change its strategy as the party aims to recalibrate its organisation ahead of key assembly elections and prepare for a more competitive online political landscape. The party has also acknowledged that it is currently lagging on social media and needs to bridge this gap with a structured strategy.
