Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala is continuing his recovery away from the first-team group after feeling unwell following Saturday’s 3-1 friendly victory over RB Leipzig.

The 23-year-old Germany international went down towards the final stages in Munich and needed medical attention as temperatures climbed above 30 degrees Celsius in the Bavarian capital.

Bayern sporting director Max Eberl sought to play down concerns immediately after the match, saying: “The most important thing is that he is well. There’s nothing more to say about anything else.”

Musiala was reported to have experienced dizziness, circulatory problems and a feverish feeling after the game. He was absent from Bayern’s open training session on Monday, although he had already completed an individual workout at the club’s Sabener Strabe training centre earlier in the day.

The situation will be closely watched with Bayern preparing for Saturday’s Supercup meeting with Borussia Dortmund.

Reports in German media suggest Musiala could return to full team training later this week, although his involvement against Dortmund will depend on his condition and the club’s assessment.

The episode comes after a difficult period for one of Bayern’s most important attacking players.

Musiala spent the first six months of the 2025-26 campaign sidelined by the broken ankle he suffered at the Club World Cup before working his way back into contention.

He subsequently returned to the Germany setup for the 2026 World Cup where they won their group but were eliminated by Paraguay in the round of 32 clash, losing 4-3 on penalties after a 0-0 draw.

Musiala’s importance to Bayern has grown rapidly since arriving from Chelsea’s youth system in 2019. Born in Stuttgart and raised largely in England, he spent eight years with Chelsea before moving to Bayern at 16.

He made his Bundesliga debut in June 2020 and, within months, became the league’s youngest-ever scorer at the time as well as Bayern’s youngest Champions League goalscorer and has since become a central figure in their attack.

The club rewarded that development in February 2025 by extending his contract through June 2030.
