The central government is set to step up its outreach to Gen Z with the launch of the “One Day, One University” campaign, aimed at creating a more direct and interactive engagement with young people.
Under the initiative, union ministers are expected to visit universities across the country and interact directly with students. The interactions will focus on issues concerning young people, with ministers expected to seek students’ views on areas such as education, curriculum, and other aspects of higher education.
The ministers will also use these interactions to brief students about various initiatives and schemes of the central government aimed at the youth.
Direct Connect with Gen Z and Gen Alpha
The campaign is expected to provide the government with an opportunity to understand the aspirations and concerns of young Indians while strengthening its direct connect with the Gen Z population. The initiative comes as the government looks to adopt a more interactive, two-way approach to youth outreach, moving beyond traditional communication channels.
According to government sources, a comprehensive plan is being drawn up to systematically engage with both Gen Z and Gen Alpha.
Prime Minister’s Directives & Key Coordination
- Broad Outreach Scope: The Prime Minister has asked union ministers to expand their outreach beyond higher education by visiting universities, colleges, and government schools.
- Focus on School Visits: For meetings conducted in government schools, ministers have been instructed to place special focus on evaluating the quality of education alongside the quality of food provided under the Mid-Day Meal scheme.
- Coordination Leads: Two senior cabinet members—Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi and Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya—have been entrusted with the responsibility of coordinating this initiative across the various ministries.
