Did you know pineapple is one of my favourite fruit. Every time we buy pineapples, I cut them and store in fridge and enjoy throughout the day. Amma likes to coat the chopped pineapples in little salt and store in fridge, she says it enhances the sweetness of the pineapple.

When we were little she used to add some sugar into the pineapple cubes. The sugar mixes with the pineapples to create a syrup. It taste absolutely yummy. Recently I have started making this simple pineapple chaat. What I like about this recipe is, it is healthy, low in calorie and makes a filling snack anytime of the day.
About Pineapple Salad Recipe
Pineapple chaat is one of the lesser known salad, but truly addictive. Ripe pineapple is mixed with spice powders like red chilli powder, chaat masala, black salt, mint leaves and lemon juice to create this flavourful chaat.
When pineapples is tossed with these spices, it creates a lip smacking taste in the pineapples. You can never stop eating them. For a unique taste, you can add in chopped coriander leaves, roasted cumin powder for a refreshing taste.

Ingredients
- Pineapples – use ripe pineapple for this chaat. Slice off the skin using a sharpm serrated knife which makes the work easy.
- Spice Powders – chaat masala powder, red chilli powder is what I added. You can add roasted cumin powder also.
- Lemon Juice – add a bit of lemon juice to the pineapple chaat for balance of taste.
- Seasonings – salt, sugar, black salt is used for seasoning.
- Fresh Herbs – I used mint leaves, you can use chopped coriander leaves as well.

Step by Step Pictures
1)Take fresh ripe pineapple in a cutting board. Use a sharp serrated knife to remove the peel from the pineapple. Now place them in the cutting board and chop them into small pieces.

2) Take the cubed pineapple in a mixing bowl.

3)Add in salt to taste.

4)Add some sugar. Instead of sugar, you can use honey as well.

7)Add in some red chilli powder.

8)Add in chaat masala powder. If you want, you can even add some roasted jeera powder.

9)Add in some black salt.

10)Now add in lemon juice and freshly chopped mint leaves.

11)Toss well to coat. Place this in fridge and let it sit for 30 minutes before serving for the flavours to develop.

12)Serve.

Expert Tips
- You can chop the pineapple whichever size you prefer. For salsa, chop them fine. If you are planning to serve as salad, cut them into cubes.
- All the spice powders are totally to your taste. You can adjust it.
- You can make this salad in bulk and store in fridge upto a week. The flavour enhances as the pineapple marinate in the spices and lemon.

You can serve pineapple salad on its own or with grilled chicken or meat. Store pineapple salad in the fridge upto a week.

You can use cucumber, mangoes in this salad.

Yes, of course you can use basil or coriander leaves in place of mint leaves.
