A 45-year-old Dronacharya awardee gymnastics coach has been booked under the POCSO Act for alleged sexual harassment of a 16-year-old student at a gymnasium in Vile Parle, Mumbai, according to Police Sources. The survivor’s mother instructed her to inquire after the coach initiated contact via WhatsApp with a simple “Hi” message while she was studying at home. The coach invited the minor student to the gymnasium, asking if she was free to meet him.
The survivor arrived expecting official work and found the coach alone, who then instructed her to bring his footwear inside and lock the door from within. The coach attempted to sexually harass the minor and warned her to keep the incident secret as she tried to leave.
The victim reported the assault with the help of her physical education teacher, leading to an FIR registered at the Vile Parle Police Station, where investigations are currently underway.
