The biggest question for candidates appearing for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2026 is the revised exam date. The CTET September 2026 exam was originally scheduled for September 6 but was later postponed. The CBSE has not yet announced the new date.
In a notice dated August 25, 2026, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) said the revised exam date would be announced after the application process was completed. Candidates will therefore have to wait for the board’s official announcement.
Meanwhile, the correction window for the CTET September 2026 application form opened on September 7 and will remain available until September 10, 2026. CBSE has clarified that no changes will be accepted after the correction window closes. Candidates should therefore carefully review their applications and correct any errors before the deadline.
The correction facility covers important details such as the candidate’s name, parents’ names, date of birth, category, disability category, selected paper, Paper II subject and languages.
When Will The CTET 2026 Exam Be Held?
According to the original CTET September 2026 schedule, the exam was to be conducted on September 6, 2026. Paper II was scheduled from 9:30 am to noon, while Paper I was scheduled from 2:30 pm to 5 pm. The information bulletin also stated that the exam could be conducted on September 5, if required.
However, this schedule is no longer applicable following the postponement. CBSE has said that the revised exam date will be announced after the application portal closes.
Some reports have suggested that the exam could be held in October, with the admit cards expected before the examination. However, candidates should wait for CBSE’s official announcement and should not treat any unconfirmed date as final.
What Details Can Be Changed In The CTET Application Form?
According to the CTET Information Bulletin, candidates can make changes to several details during the prescribed correction period. These include:
– Candidate’s name
– Father’s name
– Mother’s name
– Date of birth
– Category
– Disability category
– Choice of Paper I or Paper II
– Subject selected for Paper II
– Language I and Language II
– Correspondence address
– Details of the institution associated with qualifications such as B.Ed. or Diploma in Elementary Education
The correction facility is available only during the specified period and can be used only once. After the correction window closes, CBSE will not accept requests for changes through offline applications, fax or email.
Once the correction window closes on September 10, CBSE is expected to release the revised CTET examination schedule. Candidates should then look out for updates regarding the new exam date, examination centres and admit cards. The CTET Information Bulletin advises candidates to regularly check the official CTET website for examination-related updates.
The CTET has two papers. Paper I is for candidates who intend to teach Classes 1 to 5, while Paper II is for those who intend to teach Classes 6 to 8. Candidates who wish to teach at both levels have to appear for both papers. Both Paper I and Paper II consist of 150 multiple-choice questions carrying 150 marks. There is no negative marking in the CTET.
How Many Marks Are Required To Pass CTET?
According to the CTET Information Bulletin, a candidate who scores 60% or more is considered to have passed the TET. Since each paper carries 150 marks, this generally means scoring 90 or more marks. However, concessions may be considered for candidates belonging to reserved categories in accordance with the applicable rules.
