Durasorb LNG MAX for simplified pre-treatment and increased feed gas flexibility
Durasorb LNG MAX process technology provides a single-unit adsorption solution for removing trace heavy hydrocarbons (HHCs), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene (BTEX) and water to cryogenic specifications. This capability prevents freeze out of these components and associated downtime, improving operational reliability and flexibility. The technology is suitable for retrofitting dehydration units and greenfield projects. BASF supports design and operation using proprietary modelling tools and ongoing technical assistance.
“The BASF Durasorb technology has enhanced our strategic debottlenecking program, advancing the organic growth of our existing liquefaction platform,” said Maas Hinz, Executive Vice President of Operations at Cheniere.
BASF said Cheniere has commissioned Durasorb LNG MAX at its Corpus Christi LNG facility in Texas, across multiple liquefaction trains.
The single-unit adsorption technology removes trace contaminants and water to help prevent freeze-outs and downtime in LNG operations.
Cheniere aims to finish remaining trains by end-2027, with BASF providing adsorbents, modelling tools and technical support.
